Saved about $400 on brakes

The sentra needed new brakes and the mechanic I usually go to stated it needed new front rotors and brakes. The rotors couldn’t be resurfaced meaning a more costly repair. Instead of paying $400 for what I knew was price gouging, I had my family help replace the brakes. The rotors were fine and did not need to be replaced yet. They need to be checked again in about 10,000 miles. At my current rate of driving, that would be after I plan on buying a new car.
We did encounter a problem with one of the calipers being stuck. It explains why the car pulled while stopping. The inner pad for that side looked brand new, but the outer pad was nearly completely warn out. It took a bit of work, including a torch, to unstick the caliper, but in the end the car is in full working order. Even rotated the tires. I guarantee that if I let the mechanics replace the brakes, it would have turned the already outrageous repair bill in to an outright raping.
